TIME-LIMIT FOR MEETINGS.

TE AROHA BOROUGH COUNCIL MAYOR'S- RULING QUESTIONED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. J TE AROHA, Friday. The observance of a rule of the Te Aroha Borough Council, providing for the closing of its meetings at 10 p.m., was insisted on by the Mayor, Mr. R. Coulter, at last evening's meeting. The imposition of such a time limit, to meetings has provoked dissension 3t previous meetings. Last, evening the clock in the meeting room, had just chimed the hour of ten when' Mr. J. C. Carroll requested permission to explain a personal matter that affected him deeply. The Mayor, however, ruled that the closing time of the. meeting had passed. Mr. Burmester: It is only five to ten. That, clock is fast. The Mayor: I rule that it is 10 o'clock. Mr. Burmesfer: And T would point ou! that we did not start until 7.35 p.m. The Mayor: That was because you were in the next room.
