PRESENTATIONS.
Mr. trank* Macfarlane, engineer in Charge at Calliope Dock for the past 26 years, who was recently granted six months' leave of absence by the Auckland Harbour Board prior to retiring, was the recipient of a presentation from members of the staff at the board's office. The presentation, which took the form of a travelling-bag for himself and a suitcase for Mrs. Macfarlane, was made by the board's engineer, Mr. D. Holderness, who referred to the high esteem in which Mr. Macfarlane was held, and expressed regret that ill-health had caused a severance of relations earlier than anticipated. Mr. Macfarlane was also presented with a travelling-rug by his fellow employees at the dock. He will leave for an extended tour abroad at the end of the month.
Mr. C. L. Grange, town clerk of Whangarei, who leaves Wharigarci to-day to take over the duties of town clerk of Invercargill, was farewelled yesterday by the staff of the Whangarei Borough Couiir cil and presented with a silver tea service. He has also been the recipient of farewell rifts from the Masonic fraternity and the Borough Council.
The returned soldiers of the Tauranga district tendered a social this week to Mr. F. A Wilson, who has been president of the Returned Soldiers' Association for seven years. Eulogistic reference was made by several speakers to Mr. Wilson's splendid services for returned men. On their behalf he was presented with a valuable tea set.
The retiring county engineer, Mr. W. J. Gray, was farewelled by the Tauranga County Council staff yesterday afternoon and as a token of. their esteem was presented with a set of pipes. The "presentation was made by the country clerk, Mr. A. H P. Briasco, who referred to Mr. Gray's -long and, honourable association with the County Council.
