FIXTURE FOR JANUARY. OFFICERS OF THE SOCIETY. [BY TIIJSGRAFH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. 'Wednesday. The annual meeting of tbo Royal [Agricultural Society was held to-day. Mr. W. Perry, wlio presided, referred to the success of the Christchurch Show, ■which he considered to have been the finest show held in New Zealand. Turning to finance, Mr. Tarry said he was sorry to say they were drifting backwards. The membership had dropped from 904 in their first year, to 518 today, and there v»*as a balance at the bank of only £42. He considered it important for the society to hold a show on its own account. It had been decided to hold an autumn show in January. The date for the autumn show roused considerable discussion. Mr. D. J. Ross (Otago) said that for the Soutfj Island the end of January was not particularly suitable. He would have preferred the show toward the end of l)ecember, and just before the holidays, not after them. Sir Douglas Mac Lean pointed out that the decision to hold the show in January had heeii settled by only six persons, and it was decided to revise the rules regarding the quorum. The following officers were elected: — President Mr. W. Perry (Mastertor.); vice-presidents, Sir Douglas Mac Lean • (Hawke's Bay), Hon. A. F. Hawke (Tnvercargill) ; treasurer. Mr. W. D. Hunt; council. North Island. Messrs. J. Knieht, W. H. Booth. H. B. Stuckey, J. M. James; South Island, Messrs. A. S. Holmes, J. 0. Coop. D. (*. Rosa. In addition to the above it was agreed to Rpnoint one representative from each reg.stered bred society that is affiliated with the Royal Agricultural Society, thes» representatives to Vie appointed annually by each breed society concerned.
