GOLDEN WEDDING.

EARLY SETTLERS OF THAMES. FAMILY OF EIGHTEEN. [BY TELEGRAFH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] THAMES. Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Janieson, o! Tapu, on the Thames coast, wilt celebrate their golden wedding to morrow. Mr. Jamieson, whose birthplace was Howick, married Miss Phoebe Lang, of Waiheke, on May 30,' 1878, and they made their first home at Kereta, half-way between Thames and Coromandel, Tho country was then in a very rough state, there being no access save bridle tracks, and there was dense bush right to tho water's edge. Farming was naturally very difficult. Mr. and Mrs. Jamieson have 18 children. To meet the needs of travellers Mr. and Mrs. Jamieson opened the wellknown Jamieson accommodation house. They afterwards made several moves, but never further than to Thames: where they engaged in hotel-keeping at the old Governor Bowen Hotel, finally they returned to Tapu about seven years ago. The family of Mr. and Mrs. Jamieson, an 4 jheir many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. numbering 45, will entertain them to-morrow evening at a function in the Kopu Hall.
