PRODUCTION OF EGGS. AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. EXPORT ON LARGE SCALE. The first annual meeting of the Auckland Egg Producers' Association was held last evening. The chairman, Mr. F. H. Wells, presided over a large attendance. In his report on the preliminary work of the association, the chairman said it was hoped to undertake the export of eggs on a large scale during the coming season. The aim was for all members to export on a percentage'basis and to export between them 30,000 dozen eggs. Efforts were being made to secure better grain and this could perhaps be accomplished if members pooled their orders. It was also hoped to draw up a plan whereby members could dispose of their eggs to the best advantage. Mr. Wells viewed with concern the importation of eggs from Canada. The present duty, ho said, was not high enough, as the cost of production in Canada was much lower than in New Zealand. Two shipments had arrived from Canada recently and had had a bad effect on the local market. The association would seek an embargo or a heavier duty on imported eggs, and with this end in view had already conducted correspondence with the Ministers of Agriculture and Customs and with various members of Parliament. After considerable discussion, the annual subscription was fixed at a flat rate of 10s 6d, with an additional 2s 6d for every 100 birds owned by a member. It was decided to affiliate with the New Zealand Poultry Association. The following officers, were elected:— President, Mr. F. H. Wells; vice-presi-dent, Mr. R- S. Higcrinbotham; executive council, Messrs. T. H. Evans, H. H. A. Edgley, A. Selwood, T. Ingham. .T. Kissling: hon. auditors, Messrs. Edgley and L. Bedford. PRODUCE IN LONDON.
