Two Mau chiefs who had been charged with assault refused to obey summonses to attend the Court, and intimated that they did not recognise the Administration. The military police arrested the chiefs to-day. The occasion was marked by an unsuccessful attempt by Mau supporters to prevent the arrest. Several of the Mau were injured by police batons.
