CLASH WITH THE MATJ. ARREST OF TWO CHIEFS. POLICE FORCED TO USE BATONS. SEVERAL RIOTERS INJURED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received May 28, 1.15 a.m.) * APIA, May 26. Two Mau chiefs who had been charged with assault refused to obey summonses to attend the Court, and intimated that they did not recognise the Administration. The military police arrested the chiefs to-day. The occasion was marked by an unsuccessful attempt by Mau supporters to prevent the arrest. Several of the Mau were injured by police batons.
