PAKEHA IN COLLISION.
DUTCH SHIP IN THAMES. PALEMBANG SEVERELY DAMAGED Australian Press Association—United Service (Received May 27, 5.35 p.m.) LONDON. May 23 Lloyd's reports that the Shaw-Savill liner Pakeha was in collision with the Dutch steamer Palembang in a fog at the entrance to the Thames. She lost her starboard anchor. The damage was confined to the upper forecastle head. The Palembang had her starboard bows severely damaged. The Pakeha was built in 1910 by Messrs. Harland and Wolff at Belfast. She is 477 ft. long by 63ft. broad. She is owned by the Shaw*', Savi.ll and Albion Company. Sho has had one or two former mishaps. In June, 1924, she struck something at the Bluff and was badly scored o;i the port side. In January, 1925, there was a fire in a hold, containing Auckland mutton and butter, while tho ship was at Tokomaru Bay.' The Palembang i« a vessel of 7081 tons. She was built in 1920 by Bonn and Mees at Rotterdam for the Rotterdam Lloyd Line. She is 445 ft. long, and is an oilburner.
