STEEPLECHASE AT MANGERE. SUCCESS OF J. CRUM. The Auckland Amateur Athletic tnd Cycle Club held an enjoyable run over crosscountry at Mr. Scorn's farm at Manger# on Saturday. The competitors were faced with true conditions for a steeplechase, as the course, which was over three miles, presented some stiff obstacles, and several ditches had to be negotiated. J. Cram, who has shown good form this season', was the winner, beating the scratch man, J. W. Savidan, by 10yds. The 75yds. handicao resulted in a. win for A. E. Butler, who is one of the most promising sprinters seen out this season. The results were as follows: 75Yds. Handicap.—First heat: T. E. Henry, 3yds, 1; E. Horan, 12yds, 2; N. Nilson, 6yds, 3. Ten started. Won by 2ft. Time, 8 3-ss. Second heat: A. E. Butler, 21yds, 1; W. Vallance, 10yds, 2: G. Wil- T Hams, Byds. 8. Nine started. Won by & yard, with inches between second and third. Time, 8 8-ss. _ Final.—A. E. Butler, lj T. E. Henry, 2; W. Vallance and N. Nilson, dead heat, 3. A splendid finish. Butler winning by inches from Henry. Time, 8 2-ss. Three Miles Steeplechase.—J. Crtim, 50s, 1; J. W. Savidan, scr, 2; E. P. Henshal!. 70s, 8. Won comfortably by 10yds, with 20yds between second and third. Time, 19m 475. * Putting the Slios.—V. Scown, 82ft. lOJin.. 1; T.
