FLIGHT TO AUSTRALIA.
PLANS OF CAPTAIN SMITH. START FIXED FOR JUNE I. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. LOS ANGELES, May 24. It is now learned that Captain Kingsford Smith hopes to begin his flight to Australia on June 1. He proposes at present to leave for the Mills Aviation Field to-morrow, accompanied by Lieutenant C. T. Ulm, where the instruments will be adjusted and the final preparations made. Captain Smith says his crew will be composed of himself and Ulm as pilots, Captain Harry Lyon, of Maine, as navigator, and Mr. James Warner, of Kansas City, as radio operator. Upon their arrival at Honolulu the airmen will spend a day or two resting. Then they will proceed to Fiji, where Captain Lyon and Mr. Warner will leave the plane. The other two will fly alone to Brisbane according to their present plans.
