BOOKS IN BRITISH SCHOOLS. NEED OF BETTER EDITIONS. Australian Press Association—United Service LONDON. May 24. In the House of Commons, Mr. H. C. Haslam, Conservative member for the Horncastle division of Leicestershire, asked the President of the Board of Education, Lord Eustace Percy, if he was aware that some of the text books on the Dominions used in schools were not up-to-date, and whether ho would consider calling a conference of educational authorities with a view to securing an improvement. Lord Percy replied that the board s Consultative Committee was investigating the matter. He thought it better to await its report., which he expected would be available in the autumn, before considering what action to take.
