Miss C. Cruickshank, of Wanganui, is visiting Auckland. Mrs. J. Fotheringham has returned to Takapuna after a visit to Rotorua. Miss Canning, who has been staying at Arundel, has left for Wellington. Miss M. Wallace, of Melbourne, who is a visitor to Auckland, is staying at Cargen. Miss Bucknall left this week on her return to Australia from a visit to Auckland. Miss A. and Miss D. Triggs were passengers by the Aorangi for Australia on Monday. Miss Irene Leggett, of Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs. D. M. Rodgers, of Epsom Avenue. Mrs. H. Mowbray has returned to her home in Victoria Avenue, after a visit to Wellington. Mi's. C. W. Parkes, of Wolverhampton, is visiting Auckland and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mrs. C. Troughton-Clark, of Rotorua, is on a visit to Auckland and is a guest at the Grand Hotel. Mrs. Booth and Miss Booth, of Carterton, are visitors to Auckland and are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mrs. W. Worrell, of Melbourne, and Mrs. J. E. McMurray, of Toronto, are among the guests at the Grand Hotel. Miss D. Boag, of Melbourne, is at present visiting Auckland and is the guest of her sister, Mrs, W. F. Marshall, of Clifton Road, Takapuna. Miss Ivy Nicholls, of Cambridge, left Sydney by the Otranto on February 29 for England, stopping at Cairo en route. She hopes to visit Switzerland, Germany and France before sailing for Quebec in July. The iourney to New Zealand will be via New York and Panama, and should be completed about Christmas. London's strangest club is run by a woman, Miss Marjorie Evan Thomas, who, with an ex-burglar friend, has started the "Run Straight Club," which meets at All Hallows' Church. Mark Lane, and ih the crypt of St. Martin's-in-the-Fields. Membership is exclusively confined to those who have been in prison, but vvho are determined never to be put in again. A meeting of the Query Club was held yesterday afternoon when Miss J. Tapper presided over a good attendance of members. The balance-sheet of the recent charity dance, given by the club, was presented and showed a substantial surplus. Donations were made to the Hospital Auxiliary Fund and to the City Mission Last winter the Query girls provided fue for nnny deserving cases among the aged poor n the city and as this help was so greatly appreciated by the recipients it was decided to again allot a portion of the club's fupds for this purpose. Final arrangements were made in connection with the stall to be taken by the members at the City Mission Fair next month. Coming to New Zealand shortly for a visit is Miss Mary Glynne, holder of one of the two scholarships awarded by JJr. Georgina Sweet, of Melbourne, through the International Federation of Women Graduates. The holder of the other scholarship. Dr.- Lammert is at present studying at the Adelaide University. Miss Glvnne is a graduate of the Univera y i Wales, having attended Bangor College, North Wales; she holds the degree of Master of Science, and is a Fellow of he Linnaean Society. For ten lias been engaged in research work sted Experimental Station m Hertfordshire, England. Miss Glynne is at, present in Melbourne, having but recently arrived there by the Orsova from England. Sister Lewis, of Malvern Link, terminated her appointment as district nurse in that parish last week, and a presentation of a testimonal and a cheque for £IOO was made to her on behalf of subscribers, states our London correspondent writing on April 21. Nurse Lewis is very well known to ex-servicemen as the holder of no fewer than 10 medals and decorations, with two bars. She saw service during the Great War with -lie Expeditionary Force in Belgium; with the Serbian Army, taking part in the great retreat; and afterwards was attached in France to the New Zealand Nursing Service. With this unit she remained until the conclusion of the war, being twice wounded. Nurse Lewis had previously spejit many years in the Dominion, and was for some time stationed at Otaki.
