MARRIAGE IN AMERICA.
FREQUENCY OF DIVORCE. CENSUS BUREAU STATISTICS. Australian and N.Z. Prcß3 Association. (Received May 22, 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON. May 21. The complete marriage and divorce statistics have just been compiled for 1926 by the Census Bureau. They show that while the number of marriages has fallen off in recent years from the high point reached in 1920, divorces increased for more than a quarter of a century prior to 1926 at a rate far greater than the growth of the population. Marriages still outnumber divorces, but the divorce rate is steadily increasing, while the marriage rate continues to lessen slightly.
