HARBOUR BOARD.
APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN. MR. H. R. MACKENZIE RE-ELECTED The annual meeting of tlies Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday, Mr. M. H. Wynyard, deputy-chairman, presiding. Mr. H. R. Mackenzie was re-elected chairman for the current year. The reelection was moved by" Mr. Wynyard, who said in view of the long period of service Mr. Mackenzie had given the board as chairman it seemed to be only fair and a compliment to Mr. Mackenzie that he should be reappointed to the offica while he was temporarily absent from the Dominion. Mr. T- B. Clay referred to the great assistance Mr. Mackenzie had been to the board. While he was away he would acquire further knowledge of harbour matters. The chairman's honorarium was fixed at £2OO. Mr. Wynyard was re-elected deputychairman, and the following committees were appointed Works, the chairman of the board (chairman),' Messrs. T. Blood worth, E. W. Inder, F. A. Hellaby, W. F. McCallurn, Campbell Johnstone, A. M. Laing; finance, Messrs. T. B. Clay (chairman), J. B. Johnston, G. Parr, Inder, C. G. Macindoe, G. R. Hutchinson, H. R. Mackenzie; purchasing and stores, Messrs. Macindoe (chairman), J. B. Johnston, Hutchinson, J. Hislop, Mackenzie; Manuka.il Harbour, Messrs. M. H. Wynyard (chairman), Laing, McCallurn, Heilaby, Campbell Johnstone, Mackenzie, Parr. Amended conditions for the leases of the old dock site were agreed to. These provide that the lessees must complete the erection of the buildings within ten years of the commencement of the leases and that the buildings, unless otherwise agreed to by the board, must not bo less than four storeys in height and must be of a uniform design. The engineer, Mr. D. Holderness, reported that the three-ton crane for the Calliope Dock had been received and was assembled. Mr. Holderness also stated that during the recent heavy gales the new vehicular landing at Devonport had been a complete success. Captain H. Hogan was appointed day officer and pilot and Captain W. G. Kelsey was appointed to the command of the pilot launch Waitemata and to be junior pilot.
