J DAKGAVLLLE, Wednesday. In keeping with tlie uimy tradition that joy should tollow sorrow, and that the luueral dirge should give way to the inspiring quick step, Dargaville lias chosen a band rotunda as the perpetual reminder to its people of the men who did not come back trom the Great War. The first lively programme was given from beneath its shade this afternoon, after the Prime Minister, Mr. Coates, had dedicated the rotunda to its purpose, and Mrs. Coates had unveiled the memorial tablet.

The band of the 15th North Auckland Regiment headed a march of the Territorials through the streets, and the ceremony was attended by a large concourse of people. Mr. Coates, in his speech, said that we owed our freedom to the men who had responded to the Empire's call. There was need to-day to remember these men, and be ready to combat subversive influences in the community, which were always ready to rise in times of depression.
