TOWN BEAUTIFYING.
PROGRESS IN HAMILTON. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Friday. The annual meeting of the Hamilton Beautifying Society was held last evening, Mr. W. H. Paul presiding. ~ The balance-sheet showed a credit of £133. The Memorial Park fund account was in credit to the extent of £IOO, and the cenotaph fund disclosed a balance of £759. In his annual report the president said during the past year some new work had been done and the ordinary work oi the society had been carried out. Jn the early part of the year the street trees of the whole borough were given attention, and where necessary trees were replaced. Considerable improvements bad been made in several of the society's plots, and a large amount of work had been done on the river path. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr. W. H. Paul; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. R. 0. Fowler and J. H. Hammond; committee, Mrs. 11. Douglas and Mrs. A. S. Brewis, Messrs. E. Quick, IT. E. Jacka, F. W. Hare, J. F. Strang, W. G. Pountnev, R. Parr, H. Mercer and R. W. Forstor; secretary, Mr. Beuth.
