OBITUARY.
SIR ROWLAND HILL. Australian Press Association—United Service LONDON, April 25. The death has occurred from pneumonia of Sir Rowland Hill, an ex-president of the English Rugby Union. Sir G. Rowland Hill was born in 1855. Ho was at Christ's Hospital (Bluecoat School) and for many years was in the Principal Probate Registry of Somerset House, London. He was for many years honorary secretary of the English Rugby Union, and a past president. He was knighted in 1926.
MR. G. H. ROBERTS. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received April 26, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 25. The death has occurred of Mr. George Henry Roberts, who was formerly Minister of Labour and Food Controller.
Mr. George Henry Roberts was born in 1869. He was secretary of the Typographical Association, and on various local bodies in Norwich, where he lived. He was returned as Labour member for that city, 1906-18, and as an Independent, 191.8-23. In 1915 he was appointed a Lord Commissioner of the Treasury, and next year Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade. Ho was Minister of Labour, 1917-18, and Food Controller, 1919-20. He was chairman of the National Advisory Committee on the Blind, under the Ministry of Health.
