THAMES HIGH SCHOOL.
PROPOSAL FOR BATHS.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ]
THAMES, Thursday.
A meeting of the Thames High School Board of Governors was presided over by Dr. J. B.<- Liggini. The director of education notified the reappointment of Df. Liggina, Rev. Jas. Milne and Mr. W- Scott to the board. The Piako County Council advised that the matter of reopening the Waioroogomrti quarry, situated on the board's endowment near Te Aroha, was under consideration pending a report from a newly-ap-pointed engineer. With reference to a request for permission to mortgage endowment reserves for the purpose of providing the cost of the installation of swimming baths at the school, the Hon. R. A.-Wright wrote stating that he had previously pointed out to the boaM that Cabinet had decided not to permit further mortgaging o'l endowments.. It had again considered the matter, and regretted that it could not depart from this decision.
The principal, Mr. W. H. Hoult, reported a foil of 218. If suitable steamer arrangements could be made, he suggested a day's excursion to the Auckland Winter Show. A shield received from the Thames Old Boys' Association to commemorate the diamond jubilee held at Thames last year, would be used to encourage athletics by means of an annual steeplechase event.
