MINING NEWS.
REPORTS OF MANAGERS. Hauraki.—The seaward face of tho 400 ft. level is now 140 ft. from the point wheredriving was resumed by the present company, and about 1600 ft. from the Hauraki shaft. What is probably the Green Harp reef is showing in the hangingwall of the main reef, with which it should junction in eight or 10£t. of further driying. A very strong flow of water is making from this hangingwall reef, which indicates its continuity, and is evidently the same formation as met with in the drive on the cross reef and mentioned in the last report. Tho main reef is about 3ft. in width and looks favourable for gold. In the rise to connect with the Union Beach section for ventilation and stoping purposes, compressed air and water-pipes are in place and the drill will be started to-day. Tho Hauraki shaft is now 49ft. below the 500 ft. level chamber. The reef before mentioned is gradually dipping from the shaft. It maintains its width of about 6ft.j and continues to carry mineral indications favourable for gold.
