FAMOUS MATHEMATICIAN.
FURTHER HONOUR BESTOWED Advice has been received in Auckland that Dr. Ernest W. Brown t sterling professor of mathematics at Yalo University, and brother of Mrs.. J. C. Yorke, Mountain Road, Mount Albert,, has been elected to membership of the Royal Academy of Science, of Belgium, in recognition of his eminent contributions to the science of mathematics.
Dr, Brown is well known in the Dominion, having visited this country as a member of tho British Association in 1914, when he lectured in Wellington,. Nelson and other places. Several years ago Dr. Brown was presented with the gold medal of the Royal Society 'of England, with the approval of King CSeorge, for "notable investigation iir astronomy." He was also awarded the J. C. Adams' prize by Cambridge University for work on Certain phases of the moon, afnd the Bruce Medal of tho Astronomical Spciety of tho Pacific for eminent contributions to astronomical science. /
