TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:— Mainly fine weather is indicated generally, although unsettled at times, with occasional showers, particularly in districts bordering on tho West Coast of both islands and in areas southward of New Plymouth and Napier. Westerly to south-westerly winds, moderate to strong, decreasing, and backing by south to north. Seas mainly moderate, but fairly rough on the south-wost Tasman Sea, and on tho West Coa,st of New Zeadand from Now Plymouth to Manukau Heads. Comparatively warm temperatures should rule temporarily, preceding a general change to northerly and north-easterly winds, followed by severe and stormy weather after 48 hours. Barometer, midnight, rising ~ 30.201n. Midnight, Sunday .. .. 30.05 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—There is a depression east of the South Island, and a moderate anti-cyclone is situated between New Zealand and Australia. Indications are for south-westerly winds, moderate generally, but strong at places south from Cook Strait. Seas rather rough south of Cape Egmont and Castlepoint, elsewhere moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate sontherlies, but winds later becoming variable in the eastern Tasman Sea, with moderate seas. Weather changeable from Cook Strait southwards, with scattered showers, but improving elsewhere.
