WEALTH FROM DAIRYING.
PAYMENTS IN WAIKATO. OVER £3,750,000 THIS SEASON. [BT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Sunday. Payments totalling £3,754,569 have been advanced to the suppliers of 11 Waikato dairy companies for butter-fat received for the season up to the end of March, compared with £3,174,128 for the corresponding period last season, an increase of £580,441. For the month of March, the advances totalled £372,927. compared with £321,613 for March, 1927.
The New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., was the largest contributor to these amounts, having advanced £3,142,000 to their suppliers for the season to date, compared with £2,676,000 for the corresponding period last year. For the March supply of butter-fat the company advanced £320,000, on the basis of Is 4d per lb for butter and Is 5d per lb for cheese. The advance made for March, 1927, was £272,000, on the basis of Is per lb for butter and cheese.
