TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:—Unsettled weather is expected generally, with occasional showers, particularly in West Coast districts, and in areas southward of New Plymouth and Napiei. Fair intervals will intervene, and conditions should improve temporarily everywhere. Southerly to winds, moderate to strong, squally at times, but decreasing. Seas moderate. The Government meteorologist reported last evening ~ as follows : —A moderate anti-cyclone is still situated over the northern and western Tasman Sea. The southern depression is now passing gradually away eastward. Indications are for south-westerly winds, still strong at times in Foveaux Strait, but elsewhere light to fresh. Seas rather rough from Cook Strait southward, but decreasing; moderate north of Cook Strait. South-west to southerly wind in the eastern half of the Tasman Sea, light to moderate in the northern portion and moderate to fresh in the southern, with rather rough but decreasing seas. Weather cloudy at times in districts with westerly aspects and Southern Otago, with . scattered light showers, but mainly fair to "fine, with cool temperatures. RAINFALL RECORD.
