ROAD BOARD ELECTIONS.

ONE TREE HILL CONTEST. RIVAL " TICKETS " NOMINATED. The election of members of the One Tree Hilt Road Board, to take place on May 2, will be keenly contested, 16 nominations having been received for the seven seats. In connection with the election two rival. "tickets" have been put forward, one by the Ratepayers' Association and the ofher by the newly-formed One Tree Hill Progressive League. The league candidates are Messrs. R. G. Clark and C. L. Mclntdsh, silting members, and H. F. 0. Twigden, R. Angus, F. Whittome, K. Aimer, and J. Peacocke. The following have been selected by the Ratepayers' Association:—Messrs. H. B. Dobbie, J. S. Hardwicke, and J. Mathieson, who are all present members, and E. J. Roseman, C. L. Slyfield, I, J. Goldstine, and J. Tapper. In addition to these "tickets" there are two other candidates, Messrs. T, 11. Rowe and J. C. Rennie, who are not connected with any associations. POLL AT MOUNT WELLINGTON. TEN CANDIDATES IN FIELD. There are ten nominations for the five seats on the Mount Wellington Road Board. Messrs. G. H. Kay, J. Hotham and A. C. Hare are sitting members, and Messrs. J. Wood, C. L. G. Shaillet, W. Gollan, W. Grace, R. W. McCullough, W. E. Richards and A. N. Walters are new candidates.

Messrs. Shaillet, Grace, McCullough and Richards have be<.'n put forward by the Ratepayers' Association. Mr. Wood was formerly chairman of the board for several years, but did not stand at the last election, while Mr. Gollan is also a former member.

The number of ratepayers in tho district has more than doubled since the last election, and it is expected that keen interest will be taken in the forthcoming contest. The method of voting has been changed this year, and has been brought into line with Parliamentary practice. The names of the candidates to be rejected will now be struck out, instead of placing a cross opposite the names of the favoured candidates, as formerly.
