REFORM CANDIDATES.

Sir, —I have explained to " Reformer " our reason in choosing Roskill and with the official backing we will win if sucn is possible. No< electorate in New Zealand will be more loyally or consistently worked for the party. We would not have a hope of a square deal through a selection committee. We have never had to submit our candidate to one for a hopeless seat, and see no reason to so for a good one. Selection committees should be scrapped, no matter who assisted to frame the constitution. They are not representative of the electors. Only the few with inside knowledge know anything until all is over. The Prime Minister has the power to veto or sanction as he chooses any candidate, so why not select in the first instance, as he does members of Cabinet, the qualifications to be. efficiency and how long the candidate has been a supporter of the party. When the Women's Franchise Bill was carried in England last month the Prime Minister stated that men had not taken a rational view of woman—she was either put on a pedestal or plunged in a pit—and that to build up the broken world naif the human race was not enough; it must be men and women together. That _is what women of New Zealand are striving for, and trust soniß of our men are as generous and clear visioned as the Prime Minister of England. A. Rtjsseix.
