TRUST FUNDS.

Sir. —Some months ago you had a subleader on the above subject, stating that there should be a tightening up of the audit system to safeguard the public against the dishonesty of solicitors. I wrote a letter which you were good enough to insert. giving my opinion that no matter how much the audit system was (if possible) tightened up, if the solicitor or his employee laid themselves out to transgress the laws they would find ways and means of defeating the auditor, and that the only way cf safeguarding the public was for the* solicitor to be put under a bond, the amount to be adjusted quarterly according to the volume of trust funds involved. It is incumbent on the Law Society to see that this is done, to which the profession should have 110 objection. A.R.O.
