They boarded a Chinese steamer, tho Hsinwafi, bound from Shanghai to Hongkong, effected a coup at sea arid gained control of tho vessel. They then took her to Bias Bav.

Captain Jensen, and the chief officer, Mr. Lices, and others were taken ashore while the valuable cargo was unloaded. Later a Chinese gunboat appeared in the bay and the pirates made for the hills taking their booty with them. Five passengers were also taken as paptivds. Captain Jensen signalled to tho gunboat and a pursuit party was landed but could not overtake the pirates,
