TO-DAY'S WEATHER.

HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening : —Fine weather conditions are indicated temporarily, followed shortly by a renewal of unsettled weather generally, with further rain. Southerly to southwesterly winds, moderate to strong, decreasing and veering by west to rorth, then freshening again. Seas' moderate. Tho recent disturbance has passed rapidly eastward, being replaced by a high barometric pressure system. Tropical activity is, however, still predominant and tho improved conditions are likely to be shortlived. Barometric pressure is increasing for a brief period, a decrease in pressure being expected shortly in the north.

GOVERNMENT REPORT. Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows :—The anti-cyclone over Australia is now extending over the north Tasman Sea to northern New Zealand. Pressure is; low to tho south and south-east of the Dominion. Indications are for moderate to strong, but decreasing, west to south winds, moderate seas north of New Plymouth and East Cape, rough in Fouveaux Strait; elsewhere rather rough, but decreasing gradually. South-westerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, moderate in tho northern portion. with moderate seas; fresh to strong in tno southern portion, with rough seas. Weather cloudy, with further showers on the west coast of tho South Island and in Southern Otago and at isolated places elsewhere; otherwise fair to fine, with cool temperatures.
