OBITUARY.

MP.. JOHN BICE. The funeral of the kite Mr. John Bie* took place on Monday at - Hillsborough Cemetery, the Rev. L. B. Dalby conducting the service at the graveside. Thft chief mourners were Mr. J. Bice, T« Papapa; Mr. W. Bice, Waihi; Mr. A. Bice, Christchurch; and Mr. 0. Pickering. Mr. John Bice resided of late year* with his daughter, Mrs. C, Pickering, of Church Street, Onehunga.

MR. A. H. LUCAS. [BY TETjEOUAPH.—press association. J BLENHEIM, Tuesday. The late Mr. A. H. Lucas, who was fatally injured in a motor accident in Wellington last evening, was 63 yeai's of age. He was very widely known and highly respected in Blenheim, where he had lived for many years. He was for a long period chief telegraphist here at the time when Blenheim was the largest telegraph office in the Dominion, all the work between the two islands having to be repeated from that office, On Mr. Lucas fell the responsibility of putting into order the mechanical repeating system which did away with the Jsrge staff, and he achieved this with distinction. Later he became telegraph supervisor fn Blenheim and retained that offica until his retirement on superannuation some eight years ago. Mr. Lucas married Miss Burroughs, a member of a well-known Tuamarina family, Who died some 21 years ago leaving a largo family.
