VIOLENCE IN CHICAGO.
FATAL CLASH OF GANGS. SERVICES OF INTERCESSION. A. and N.Z. . CHICAGO, .March 8. While 100,000 of the citizens were gathered last evening at special church service? dedicated to praying " that this city may be purged of vice and corruption," the gunmen continued their warfare. Three "men armed with revolvers and a machine-gun fatally wounded Jack McGurn, chief lieutenant, of " Scarface " Caponi's forces, near the flower-shop where the assassination of Dean O'Banion began the long list of deaths three years ago. . / . The shooting occurred at a gambling resort. One bystander was wounded. The mnrderers escaped. McGurn refused to say more than to ask that a lawyer be brought to him.
