EFFECT ON THE GARDENS. "Welcome rains have already produced 4 magical effect upon flower gardens and pleasure grounds, reviving those plants were and almost dead for want of moisture, giving dahlias and • chrysanthemums a fresh start and renewed vigour, with every prospect of a successfall flowering and affording a splendid opportunity for bedding out those variteties of seedlings that had been held fever in the plant traya awaiting the first good rainfall. Most important of all the *am saved many azaleas, rhododendrons and other shrabs and tree-ferns that were in a withered condition and not able to «xist much longer without moisture.
