By winning the Narier Cup to-day Goshawk earned a Sib. penalty for the Thompson Handicap. Mr. J. M. Samson's luck stood to him, for his representative purehssed Tintoretto this morning, end he won at first attempt in his interest. For the Omarunui Hurdles Red Fuchsia wss the actual favourite, with good support for Revel, Kalakawa and Comedy Prince. Comedy Prince led to tho third fence, but then slipped and fell. Rod Fuchsia led Revel and Modern to the last fence, end once over Red Fuchsia went on to win easily by a length from Revel. Modem was two lengths away third, and Kalakawa well back. Red Fuchsia scored easily. Revel should improve with the race, and Modern shaped well for a novice. Comedy Prince was going well when he fell. The Esk Handicap saw Moa Bird a pronounced favourite, with Tanagra a decided second choice. Air Force and Kahu Araki led to the turn from Maureen, Tan, Royal Picture and Tanagra. Airforce, Kahu Araki, Tanagra and Tan were in line a furlong from home, and then Tanagra drew out to win by a length and E-half from Aiiforce, with Mountain Heath a head away third. Addlepate was fourth and then caroe Kahu Araki, Moa Bird and Tan. Mountain Heath, Addlepate and Moa Bird are all likely improvers. Tanagra won well, and Airforce ran a really good race, Raassy was always at odds on for the Sapling Stakes, anything else being at a lesflonable price. Raasay and Dark Girl began smartest from Millais, Amplifier, Clarendon and King Mara. Dark Girl soon lost her position, and Millais and Amplifier led to the turn. Millais and Amplifier Were overtaken by Raasay a furlong from home, with Clarendon doing best o! the others. Raasay went on to win by half * length from Millais and Amplifier, whom the judge could not divide. Clarendon was four lengths away fourth, and fnen at intervals came Silvan Dale, .Dark Girl and Primox. Raasay was of superior cla3s to *he rest. Clarendon shaped very well for his first attempt. For the Napier Cup White Fang wss the favourite at the finish, with Tresham » good second choice. White Fang and Goshawk were first out, and with five furlongs to go still led from Black Mint and Atareria, with Tresham and Perle de Leon next. Tresham ranged up with Goshawk, White Fang and Atareria as they straightened up, and in a good race to the post Goshawk won well by three-quarters of n length from Tresham, who beat Black Mint hy a length. Huikai was two lengths away fourth, and Perle de Leon and Atareria both beat White Fang home. Goshawk put yj l 1 really good performance, 'and both Tresham and Black Mint were not disy, tnui.

In the Autumn Handicap Tintoretto was backed down to & short price, with Lin Arlington next in public esteom. Lipsol, Lin Arlington, Bon Homme, and Peneus showed the way round to the turn, where Tintoretto had moved up handy to the leaders. Once in line for home Tintoretto came on to win by three-quarters of a length from Lin Arlington, with Peneus tmee-quarters of a length awny third. Haurangi was fourth and Cool Card next. Tintoretto scored decisively, but both Lin Arlington and Peneus ran excellent races.

In the Maiden Scurry High Heather was favourite, with the Client-Keen bracket and Tigerlass the only others backed. Brown Sugar began best from Keen. High Heather, Tigerlass, Clavers and Havana. Half-way wp the straight Keen passed Brown Sugar and won by a length and a-half. Clavers was a length away third, and then at intervals came Molong, High Heather, Elicit aud Tigerlass. Clavers was unlucky. For the Flying Handicap Shirley was fiivourito, with The Hawk and Arrow Lad the only others supported. Coot soon rushed to the front, and was joined by Plain Sailing, the pair leading to the turn from Arrow Lad, Shirley and The Hawk. Arrow Lad gathered in the leaders a furlong from home, where The Hawk was also prominent and Shirley whs still inconspicuous. Arrow Lad came out to win by two lengths from The Hawk, who beat Royal Damon by a length and a-half. Coot was fourth, Shirley fifth and Plain Sailing led Star Stranger home. Arrow Lad won in good style, as the race was run. The Hawk was a little unlucky. Shirley showed a complete absence of dash: In the Redcliffe Hack Handicap Star God was an odds-on favourite, but the winner turned up in Hypnotic, who paid a good price. Gordon Swift and Avazone led down the back from Rakauponga, Sandburr, Royal Time, Hypnotic, Garmint and Stur God, with Greyrock last. Once the straight was reached Hypnotic, on the outside, went on to win by three lengths from Gordon Swift, who beat Avazone by two lengths. Sandburr was fourth. Gothio has been scratched for to-mor-row'a Leonard Stakes and will be sent to Sydney to meet Limerick In the Rawson Stakes on March 24. Amonnis has been sent back to Sydney. The jockey Neville Percival is going for a trip to England ar.d will ride there. NOTES FROM ELLERSLJE. Some difficulty is being experienced in getting a suitable rider for Corinax in the Franklin Cup, and aa late as yesterday afternoon nobody had been engaged. It takes a vigorous rider to g9t the best of the Magpie gelding, who wants plenty of riding, and might prove a handful for most light weights. J. Cammick rode Corinax with considerable dash in the Rotorua Cup, but that horseman is nursing an injured shoulder and is not available. It is probable that Cammick may be fit to ride Corinax in the Ohinemuri Cup next week. Nr. W. Roulston informed me yesterday tha, it had been decided not to run Royal Doulton in the Franklin Cup. The mare had to be eased in her vork as n result, of a severe kick she received at To Aroha, and it was deeded advisable not to take ■jut risk* witls h«r»
