AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE BANKING SECTION ACTIVE. Chief interest was again claimed by the banking section in yesterday's transactions on the Auckland Stock Exchange. The new issue of Bank of Australasias changed hands at £ls 2s at the late call, after holders quoted £ls ss. Nationals of New Zeala'nd wero done ,at £6 18s 6d, against £5 19s last week. New South Wales, selling at £47 7s 6d, showed an improvement of 2s 6d on the price paid on Wednesday. After selling at 59s 3d earlier in the week, New Zealands were done on ihe earlier basis of 595, the figure offered by buyers throughout the day. Unions were on late offer at the current sale rato of £l4 14s, but buyers would not advance beyond £l4 13s. In insurance the only transaction was in Nationals, which were done at 15s 7d, a jienny advance on a sale earlier in the week. New Zealands wero sought at Wednesday's sale price of 40s 9d, sellers 41s. Late offers for South British were made at 58s 3d, the ruling sale rate, holders asking threepence more. Other sections showed only spasmodic activity. ' In shipping Devonport Steam Ferries had sale at 24s 9d, the current rate. In miscellaneous Fullers' Pictures found a buyer at 18s 6d, the market closing at 19s and 18s. Tke recently current rate of 10s was paid for Taranaki Oilfields, while Wilsons Cements, done at 37s lOd, showed a decline of twopence on the most recent transaction three weeks ago.

The following sales took place: —Bank of Australasia, £ls 2s; National Bank of New Zealand, £6 18s 6d; Bank of New South Wales, £47 7s 6d; Bank of New Zealand, 595; National Insurance, 15s 7d; Devonport Steam Ferry, 24s 9d; Fullers' Pictures, 18s 6d; Taranaki Oilfields, Cement, 37s lOd.
