GILBERT AND SULLIVAN.
Sir.—A paragraph in your issue of the 3rd instant states that on. interim injunction had been granted to certain plaintiffs to restrain the Te Kuiti Amateur Operatic Society from playing the "Mikado" at Cambridge. This society several years ago essayed "Patience," and a photograph, of the company showed ''heavy dragoons", wearing service This sort of anachronism ia painful to all true lovers of Gilbert and Sullivan. The travelling companies of J. C. Williamson have captured tho true spirit of this famous couple, and it would be better for smali country, towns to realise their limitations and provide less ambitious fare for their patrons.
