THE WEST COAST ROAD.
GLEN EDEN'S INTEREST. A special meeting of the Glen Eden Town Board was hold yesterday in order to meet Mr. J. McEnnis, chairman of the No. 1 District Highways Council, and con-, sider the proposal of the Main Highways Board to declare the West Coast Road a secondary highway. Mr. McEnnis stated that it was intended to devote 25 per cent, of the petrol tax to roads adjacent to the city, proportionate to the importance of each particular road subsidised. Maintenance would be subsidised to the extent of pound for pound. In reply to a a query from one of the members with regard to the proposal to reconstruct, the Glen Eden poriiou of the West Coast Road in either bitumen or concrete, Mr. McEnnis expressed himself as in favour o! concrete.
