FRANKLIN POULTRY CLUB.
NO SHOW THIS YEAR. FINANCIAL LOSS ANTICIPATED. [B7 TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] I'UKEKOHE, Thursday. The fourth annual meeting of the Franklin Poultry Club was held last evening, the president, Mr. A. G. Howies, presiding. The president reported that tiie past year had proved satisfactory for the club from most points of view. The annual show was successful. The' entries constituted a record, and the quality of the exhibits was. excellent. It was pleasing each year to be able to record an increase in entries. The financial position showed an improvement on the previous year. The financial statement showed receipts totalling £lO6 lis 2d,✓and expenditure a few shillings less. The president pointed out that in addition the club had staging material and trophies of a total value of £BO.
'Hie prospects for a show this year •were discussed. It was contended that owing to present economic conditions and other circumstances a financial loss would result.
A motion that no show be held by the club this year was carried on the president's casting vote. The president gave his deliberative vote against the motion, but stated that as the voting disclosed Bitch a body of opinion against holding a show tins year, he would not take the responsibility of committing the dub on his casting vote to hold a show. .Officers for the ensuing twelve months vere elected as follows:—ration, Mr. E. ft.
