AUCKLAND ACCIDENTS.

CONCRETE-MIXING MISHAP.

EMPLOYEE'S FINGER SEVERED.

Painful injuries were sustained yester- | day morning by Mr. Bert Slade, employed by J. J. Craig, Limited, in the course of concrete paving operations in Queen Street, Northcote. Mr. Slade's right hand became jammed when the lever of the bucket of the concrete-mixing machine was being locked. Three fingers were badly crushed, and one was severed. After receiving medical attention at Northcote, he was admitted to the Auckland Hospital. Mr. Slade had the misfortune previously to lose one of his fingers in an accident. A waterside worker. Mr. S. D. Campbell, who resides at Homai, near Manurewa, was injured yesterday afternoon while engaged in unloading the steamer Middlesex at Prince's Wharf. s A sling which was being hoisted out of the hold caught on a piece of scantling and struck his head, inflicting a deep cut about 4in. long. Mr. Campbell was removed by the St. John ambulance to the hospital, where a number of stitches were inserted in the wound. Ho was afterwards able to proceed to his home.

Mr. Joseph Pascoe, of Richardson Road, Mount Roskill, who is employed at the Southdown freezing works, was admitted to the hospital at seven o'clock last evening, suffering from injuries to the head, the result of a fall from his motor-cycle at the corner of Marsden Avenue and Dominion Road. His condition was reported to be not serious.
