VISIT BY AUSTRALIANS.

THE MATCH AT HAMILTON. NORTH ISLAND TEAM PROPOSED. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 HAMILTON, Wednesday. A statement that Waikato was the weakest minor cricket association in New Zealand was made by Mr. J. Reid at a meeting of the Waikato Cricket Association last evening, in support of a suggestion that an effort be made to strengthen the Waikato eleven for the match against the Australian team on March 7 and 8, by inclusion of other North Island players. Mr. Eeid said the Waikato's cricket history showed that it wub absurd to suppose that a purely local team could give the visitors a good game. Several speakers supported Mr. Reid, and said it was desirable from all points of view that a strong eleven should be selected to meet the visitors. It was resolved to invite 1. C. liowry, H. M McGirr, and F. T. Badcock (Wellington). E. H. Bowley. J. Langridge and A. S. Player (Auckland), to combine with the Waikato players to make up a North Island team to meet the visitors.
