BROWN'S BAY BEACH.
Sir, —In my opinion one of the finest beaches, taking it all round, and within easy distance from the city, is Brown's Bay. Protected as it is by the reef and with its fine stretch of sand adjacent to picturesque surroundings, it is no wonder that it is increasingly patronised by families seeking joy for children with s minimum of discomfort and danger. But who controls things at Brown's Bay! Outside two or three private individuals, ©I: whom Mr. Swinnock is easily foremost, there seems little interest taken and certainly tii.ere seems no public supervision. It is said there is a controlling body, but that its members are scalfered and all resided at a distance. It has often grieved me to see this lovely beach littered- with large stones and other obstructions, when two or three daj*a' work with a horse and dray would "do tha trick/' At the present time dumps of road metal lie on the beach to the discomfort of bathers and to the injury of boats. Will anything be done to clear things up ? If not, it is a waste and scandal. Lover of Brown's Bay.
