MYSTERIOUS PLANES.
WESTERN AUSTRALIAN STORY. CONFLICTING REPORTS. Further reports concerning the mysterious aeroplanes said to have been seen near Broome, Western Australia, in November, have been received by the Australian Government from the sub-col-lector of Customs at Broome. *The sub-collector has reported that he has interviewed a shell opener named Nelson, who says that he saw the aeroplanes flying near Broomo on November 29. The sub-collector points out, however, that Nelson did not mention the matter until tho other man, Percy, said ho had seen the planes. Robin Hunt, the half-caste owner of a mail lugger, running between Broome and Levique Point, stated that he saw no signs of the aeroplanes nor did any of the aborigines, with whom he has spoken, see them. Regarding the opinion that the aeroplanes may have been engaged in opium smuggling, the sub-collector says that he considers this is possible but not probable.
