MEMORY OF HARDY.
CHAIR OF LITERATURE. APPEAL MADE FOR FUNDS. Times. LONDON. Jan. 30. The Times says eminent authors, including Mr. George Saintsbury, Mr. Bernard Shaw, Mr. Edmund Gosse arid Sir Henry Newton, have written a -letter appealing for funds to endow a Thomas Hardy Chair of Literature at University College, Southampton, which eventually will become YVessex University.
