SHIPPING ACTIVITY.
Auckland and onehunga. CARGO HANDLED LAST YEAR. Activities at the port of Auckland are indicated in the statistical report for 1927 eubmitted to the meeting of the Harbour Board yesterday by the superintendent, &lr. H. B. Burnett. During the 12 months, 8032 vessels of b nett aggregate of 2,662,681 tons arrived in the Waitemata. This was an increase cf 22 vessels and 26,777 tons over 1926. Inwards goods totalled 1,448,743 tons, a decrease of 3.67 per cent, on the 1926 total. In outwards goods an aggregate of 292,966 tons was handled. This was an increase of 3.3 per cent, on the previous year. At Onehunga a total or 297 arrivals >?as a decreases of 37 vessels, as compared •with 1926. Inwards goods, amounting to 12,865 tons, showed an increase of 666 tons, while in outwards goods the total cf 34,624 tons wis a decrease of 1090 tons. The Harbour Board's revenue from the Waitemata during December, 1927, amounted to £30,681, while shipping on the Manukau produced £6013 during tho month. For the last quarter of 1927 the revenue from Auckland Harbour was £92,385, an increase of £595 on the business of the port compared with the corresponding period of 1926. During December, 93,123 tons of inward cargo was handled. This was a decrease of 5927 tons on thj total for December, 1926.
