CHILD FALLS FROM LORRY.
DEATH FOLLOWS INJURIES. [UV TELEGRAPH. —MESS ASSOCIATION.] MASTERTON, Monday. While riding with her mother and two sisters on a niotor-lorrv from Featherston In Carterton on Saturday, Evelyn Matcnga, aged fivo years and nine months, fell from the front seat beside the driver on to the road arid sustained fractures of 1110 pelvis and ribs. The child was admitted to the Masterton Hospital, where an operation was performed, but she died this morning. At an inquest to-day <i verdict was returned that the child died from injuries received through falling from a motorlorry. The coroner said that while the driver, who was a relative of deceased, apparently exercised ordinary precautions, it was rather risky placing small children on the front seat of a lorry which had no doors.
