FALSE PRETENCES ALLEGED
LARGE AMOUNT INVOLVED. MOTOR ENGINEER CHARGED* Arrested on the Aorangi on Sunday evening, William Madson Alt, motor engineer, aged 40, appeared in the Police Court yesterday on three charges of false pretences. Accused was alleged to have defrauded the New Zealand Guarantee Corporation, Ltd., of Wellington, of £1565 by falsely representing that he had sold three motor-lorries. A remand until Thursday was granted.
