RIFLES FOR SHANTUNG.
CZECH STEAMER TAKEN. CAPTURE BY CANTONESE. A. and N.Z. SHANGHAI, Jan. 27. The Czecho Slovakian steamer Praga, en route from Manila to Tsingtao, was attacked by a Cantonese gunboat off the Shantung coast and a three-hour running fight ensued. On arrival at Tsingtao ifc was stated that the Praga carried 90,000 rifles and several million rounds of ammunition, which had been ordered by General Chang Chung-chang, the military governor of Shantung, through a German firm, The steamship Praga is a vessel of 3841 tons, and was built in 1908 at the AustrianLloyd yards at Trieste. She is 356 ft. long.
