ROWING.
CONTEST FOR NIXON CUP. AUCKLAND CREWS VICTORY. Rowing conditions were ideal on Saturday when during the Tamaki regatta the annual race for the' Nixon Cup was decided, resulting in a victory for the Auckland Club. The race was ro'ved over a course from the St. Heliers Bay Wharf to the Kohimarama Wharf. The crews were as follows:—Auckland No. 1, T. W. Bygate, A. Harten, W. Eaddy, T. Morgan; Waitemata No. 2, J. H. Beesley, D. Shore, E. Smith, J. K. Huon; Auckland No. 2, E. Stacey, A.. Andrews. J. Jonson. J. McComifh; Waitemata No. 1, J. M. Stevenson, T. R. Impey, C, B. Bead, H. P. Cullen. Early in the race Stevenson's orew established a lead and was followed closely by the other Waitemata crew. However, over the last 100 yds. the Auckland crews came up beautifully. Bygate's crew, making a fine dash, won by a canvas from Stacey's, with Waitemata No. 2 half a length behind.
