HAWKE CUP RETAINED.

WANGANUI BEATS WAIKATO. VISITORS' POOR DISPLAY[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WANGANUI. Saturday. The Hawke Cup match between Waikato, the challengers, and Wangauui was concluded to-day. In the first innings yesterday the local team made 361 iyid the visx-. tors continued their first innings this morning, with two wickets down for 20 runs. The third wicket fell for five, the fourth for 16 and the fifth for 44, the score then being only 85. The innings closed for 99. With 263 to make to pass Wanganui's total, the visitors followed on and made a better showing ,the first two men putting on 75. In tho Pukekohe Cricket Association's competition Franklin Old Boys to-day secured a three-point win from the 1 ukekohe Club. Continuing from last Saturday Pukekohe completed its first innings for 297 runs (Hall 115), against Old Boys' 269. Old Boys compiled a further 248 runs (G. Lawrie not out 121, Rose run out 103). f0r the loss of one wicket in the second innings and then declared. Blunt, and Dickinson both made centuries lor Carisbrook in the match against Dunedin. Blunt was bowled by Claridge at 145, and Dickinson, who is not out, made 105. Cansbrook has three wickets down for 290. A'bion, in the match against Grange, has made 322 for nine wickets (Barron 71, Blair 56, Blamires 53, Mclvor not out 40).
