THE WAIWERA HILL.
DANGER TO MOTORISTS. EARLY ATTENTION URGED. The dangerous condition of the highway across the Waiwera Hill was the subject of comment at the meeting of the council of the Auckland Automobile Association last evening. The No. 1 District Highways Council advised that a deviation was contemplated, but the work was not likely to be undertaken until metalling had been completed on the continuation of the main highway to Maungaturoto. Members of the council considered that accidents which had occurred on the hill recentlly warranted immediate attention to the road. It was stated the association's consulting engineer had plotted out an alternative route along the coast. It was decided to ask the Main Highways Board to indicate what improvements were to be made.
