BOXING IN SIDNEY.
PURDY'S EASY VICTORY. DEFEAT OF FILIPINO. (Received January 7, 1.5 a.m.) A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Jan. 6. At the Sydney Stadium' in a boxing match Charles Purdy, New Zealand. 9st. 91b., knocked out "Little Cowboy," the Filipino, 9st. 71b., in the fifth round. Purdy led from the commencement, and severely punished his opponent, flooring him in the second round. For the remaining rounds the New Zealander administered heavy punishment, and finally knocked out his opponent with a heavy right cross to the jaw. The "cowboy" was outboxsd and outfought from the commencement of the contest.
