ECONOMIC CONFERENCE. AMERICA NOT TO TAKE PART. REVISION NOT ANTICIPATED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received January 6, 6.45 p.m.) A. and N.Z. WASHINGTON, Jan. 5. The continued publication of reports to the effect that the United States Government was becoming more sympathetic to a programme which would couple the reduction of German reparation payments wilh a readjustment downwards of the war debts owed to the United States, finally brought a statement to-day from the Department of State and the Treasury. The United States is not considering participation, as reported, in the international Economic Conference, at which the questions of reparation and war debts would be considered. The United States Government does not anticipate at this time any developments in connection with the revision of German reparation payments which would involve the United States in a large international financial operation of any kind.
