The first payment of pensions under the contributory pensions scheme to persons between 65 and 70 years of age, who have been insured under the health insurance scheme, are being made to-day. It is estimated that the additional money disbursed by bringing this scheme into operation will bring to £125,000 a week the total to be disbursed under the health and insurance and contributory old age pensions schemes.
